October 3, 2006 09:59 - Welcome to Our Dora the Explorer and Lazy Town Fan Site
My kids are big fans of Dora the Explorer and Lazy Town, and because of the messages they give out, I am too!
There are literally tons of resources online which we gathered together, then figured we may as well start this site and share our treasures with other Dora and Lazy Town fans!

October 3, 2006 10:33 - Help Make this Site HUGE
If you find your own Dora the Explorer or Lazy Town resources, or if you have MADE your own, then please feel free to add stuff in the comments section.
There are many creative parents out there and it's amazing what resources already exist - be aware of copyright though; if you have made your own Dora the Explorer address labels for example, just post on how to make them and a picture of your efforts, rather than distributing them etc
Thanks
October 3, 2006 15:49 - We have moving pictures!
Well, since I decided to start this site 'video' has become the 'in thing' and so naturally I bypassed the usual haunts of printables and coloring pages to see what was on offer in video world.
And let me tell you, there's soooo much.
Some of it is garbage, some of it a bit rude but some of it really great - I will put my favourites in the site.
I'm not sure how all this fits in with copyright but the way I see it, if it got through Google and YouTube checks, then it must be ok?!
Here's my first :-)
Dora in French .... ahhh so cute! And promoting language skills too :-)
The Dora the Explorer Tour has been in the UK since August but there are still dates right up to December.
Dora, Diego & Co want to have a pirate adventure party but their treasure chest full of party supplies is stolen by the Pirate Pigs.
They set out to find their treasure chest and have a typical Dora-style adventure on the way with songs, problem solving and ...Sniper

Is this the ONLY merchandising mothers have ever WANTED their kids to have????
The healthy eating and exercise promoted by the LazyTown characters has really done wonders in my house I can tell you - and I know lots of other mothers who are perfectly happy to buy ANYTHING they can related to Sportacus and his message.
In Iceland there was a ton of merchandise and initiatives over the years, however, here in the UK it was/is pretty hard to come across a good selection of LazyTown products....so here is my own little tribute to help other mums like me stock up for Christmas :-)
October 5, 2006 11:06 - Dora Promotes Healthy Eating
Dora the Explorer is joining our friends over at LazyTown by getting on the 'Healthy Eating for Kids' bandwaggon.
There's gonna be a big push on Nickelodean's 'Lets Just Play' campaign around choosing healthy food.
One of the big 'stars' is going to be Dora the Explorer, with lots of promotional materials in (I guess) major supermarkets in the US (Meijer, Publix and Price Chopper)
LazyTown did something similar in Iceland by putting stickers on bananas I believe ... and we all know how kids go for stickers! But why not try print out your own Dora stickers and slap them on all things healthy in your fridge...see what happens.
October 27, 2006 19:48 - Shock Statement - Sportacus Says "Kids should not do exercise"
LazyTown star Magnus Scheving (aka Sportacus) travels the world promoting kids' fitness after seeing no role models for children's health, and decided to fill the gap.
But he says NOT to make children excercise, instead make it 'entertaining' and to encourage 'playing' as a means of getting keeping children fit, as he explains how he didn't 'exercise as a kid' but was instead running round prentending to be John Wayne when he was a kid.
The reason Scheving and LazyTown have been such a huge success all over the globe is that the whole idea behind it is neither "teachy nor preachy".
The show is educational but in a very upbeat way and teaches kids about eating 'sports candy' and getting to bed early to keep strong - 8.08 being the magic time.
Why use couch potato TV to spread the word? Because it's a given fact that kids watch TV, but it is what they do after in their playtime and how the health eating message creeps in to everyday life that's important.
Most parents will know that kids = natural energy but these days it seems they do not do the things kids should do! A recent visit to a school in the US showed how kids respond immediately to the buzz of physical activity and copied the actions of 'Scheving' by immediately eating apples given out at the end of the visit.

October 28, 2006 11:49 - LazyTown Stephanie - Always A Way Video
I love this song - especially when I hear my kids singing it ... if I'm feeling down, hearing these words coming from such young mouths picks me up.
My most heart wrenching moments are when my youngest sings 'gotta keep trying ...' when she can't do something, hearing this through tears of frustration just melts my heart!!!
Lyrics:
If things dont work out like u want this time around
You can try to turn the problem upside down
Theres no use in crying
you gotta keep trying
Because in the end you will discover
THERE IS ALWAYS A WAY
YOU GOTTA KNOW U CAN MAKE IT
THERE IS ALWAYS A WAY
YOU GOTTA BELIEVE IN YOURSELF
SOON YOULL BE SHINING
CUZ YOU NEVER STOPPED TRYING
Really believe there is always a way
Always a way
You gotta know you can make it
There is always a way
YOu gotta believe it
You gotta believe it
ALWAYS A WAY
ALWAYS A WAY
U GOTTA KNOW U CAN MAKE IT
THERE IS ALWAYS A WAY
YOU GOTTA BELIEVE IN URSELF
SOON YOULL BE SHINING
CUZ YOU NEVER STOPPED TRYING
Really believe there is always a way
